11. Use the J 38400 in order to remove the return spring (2) from the secondary brake shoe (1).
12. Pry the end of the return spring toward the axle using the flat edge of the J 38400 until the return spring snaps off the secondary brake shoe.
13. Remove the secondary brake shoe.
14. Remove the return spring from the backing plate.
15. Clean all the parts in clean denatured alcohol
16. Inspect all of the brake system components or equivalent approved brake cleaner.
17. Replace any brake system components that are worn or damaged.
18. Inspect the wheel cylinder for the following conditions. Repair or replace as necessary.

Brake fluid leakage
^
Worn or damaged dust boots
Installation Procedure
1. Apply approved brake lubricant (or equivalent) to the following areas
^
The six brake shoe contact points on the backing plate
^
The adjuster screw threads
^
The inside diameter of the adjuster socket
2. Install the return spring to the backing plate.
3. Install the secondary brake shoe to the backing plate.
