7. Install each main cap (1) and tighten bolts finger tight.The main bearing cap bolts (2) must be tightened in the proper sequence. First the inner

main cap bolts (2), secondly the windage tray bolts, lastly the main cap tie (horizontal) bolts (6).

8. Install the inside main bearing cap bolts (2) and tighten to 20 Nm + 1/4 turn (15 ft. lbs. + 1/4 turn).
9. Measure crankshaft end play. See: Procedures

10. Install connecting rods and measure side clearance. See: Connecting Rod Bearing/Service and Repair
11. Install windage tray. Lubricate bolts with engine oil and tighten to 27 Nm + 1/4 turn (20 ft. lbs. + 1/4 turn).

12. Install the main cap tie (horizontal) bolts and tighten to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.).
13. Install rear crankshaft oil seal retainer and oil seal.
14. Install oil pump assembly See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Oil Pump - Installation.
15. Install dowel pin in crankshaft See: Seals and Gaskets/Front Crankshaft Seal/Service and Repair/Installation.
16. Install crankshaft sprocket See: Timing Components/Timing Belt/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Timing Belt & Sprockets -

Installation.

17. Install timing belt and tensioner See: Timing Components/Timing Belt/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Timing Belt & Sprockets -

Installation.

18. Install front timing belt cover See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Timing Cover - Installation.
19. Install oil pickup tube and tighten bolt to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.).
20. Install oil pan See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pan/Service and Repair/Engine Oil Pan - Installation.
21. Install engine assembly See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine - Installation.
22. Fill engine crankcase with proper amount of oil.
