Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
Front Axle - 175 FIA
Removal - Right Axle Seal
REMOVAL - RIGHT AXLE SEAL
1. Remove right halfshaft assembly.See: Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Half Shaft - Removal
2. Using suitable screwdriver, remove axle seal (1).
Removal - Left Axle Seal
REMOVAL - LEFT AXLE SEAL
NOTE: Inboard (Left) axle seal replacement requires removal and disassembly of the axle assembly.
1. Remove front axle assembly.See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Axle - 175 FIA/Removal
2. Drain axle lubricant by turning housing on its side and draining out of left output bore.
3. Remove differential cover (5) and differential (3). Remove and discard o-ring seal.
4. Using Remover 9664 and Slide Hammer C-637, remove left axle seal.
Installation - Right Axle Seal
