6. Remove the tape or plugs from the fitting on the front section of the A/C suction line (3) and the inlet port of the A/C compressor (5).
7. Lubricate a new dual plane seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the suction line fitting. Use only the specified seal as it is made of a
special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
8. Connect the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor.
9. Install the nut (2) that secures the front section of the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor. Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the air cleaner housing See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service
and Repair/Air Cleaner Housing - Installation.
11. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
12. Evacuate the refrigerant system See: Service and Repair/Refrigerant System Evacuate.
13. Adjust the refrigerant oil level See: Service and Repair/Refrigerant Oil Level.
14. Charge the refrigerant system See: Service and Repair/Refrigerant System Charge.
REAR SECTION
NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar.
15. If removed, install the A/C pressure transducer (2) onto the A/C liquid line (10) See: Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch/Service and
Repair/Installation.
16. Position the rear section of the A/C suction line (12) and the rear section of the A/C liquid line (10) as an assembly into the engine compartment.
17. Remove the tape or plugs from the suction and liquid line fittings and the ports in the A/C expansion valve (1).
18. Lubricate a new dual plane seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the suction and liquid line fittings. Use only the specified seal as it
made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
19. Connect the rear section of the A/C liquid and suction lines to the A/C expansion valve.
20. Install the nut (11) that secures the liquid and suction line tapping block (13) to the A/C expansion valve. Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
21. Install the bolt (5) that secures the refrigerant line mounting bracket to the left front shock tower (4). Tighten the bolt to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.).
22. Connect the wire harness (3) to the A/C pressure transducer.
23. Remove the tape or plugs from the fittings that connect the front section of the A/C liquid line (8) to the rear section of the A/C liquid line.
24. Lubricate a new dual plane seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the liquid line fitting. Use only the specified seal as it is made of a
special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
25. Connect the front section of the A/C liquid line to the rear section of the A/C liquid line.
26. Install the nut (6) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line to the rear section of the A/C liquid line. Tighten the nut to 22 Nm (16 ft.
lbs.).
