Timing Cover: Service and Repair
Engine Timing Cover(s) - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In
addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High
Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury See: Hybrid Drive

1. Perform the high voltage power down procedure . See: Hybrid Drive Systems/Battery System, Hybrid Drive/Service and Repair/Battery System -
High Voltage Power Down
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly See: Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and Repair/Air Cleaner Body -
Removal.
4. Drain cooling system.
5. Remove water pump drive belt See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Removal.
6. Remove coolant bottle and washer bottle.
7. Remove upper radiator hose.
8. Disconnect both heater hoses (1,3) at timing cover.
9. Disconnect lower radiator hose at engine.
10. Remove crankshaft damper See: Cylinder Block Assembly/Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley/Service and Repair/Vibration Damper -
Removal.
11. Remove the dipstick support bolt.
