A/C Performance/Compressor Failure

MODELS:

1995 - 1996 (JA) Cirrus/Stratus

NOTE:

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A/C performance complaints and/or A/C compressor failure (seized) in high ambient temperatures (90°+ F.). This condition is aggravated by start and
stop city driving and/or extended periods of idling with the A/C running (air from the cooling fans may circulate through condenser and back around the
gaps between the radiator and radiator closure panel).

NOTE:

ALL VEHICLES EXPOSED TO THESE CONDITIONS SHOULD HAVE THIS REPAIR PERFORMED.

DIAGNOSIS:
If vehicle is operated in high ambient temperatures and system is operating normally in non-extreme conditions or A/C compressor has failed (seized)
perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves installing air seals between the radiator and radiator closure panel.

1.

Release hood latch and open hood.

2.

Remove attaching screws and remove headlamp assemblies.
