Rear Suspension Trailing Link Service
MODELS:

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE DEC. 5, 1994 (MDH 12.05-XX).
DISCUSSION:
A change was made to the trailing link on Dec. 5, 1994. The change involved the length of the link and composition of the hangar trailing link spacer.
The old spacer was white plastic, the new spacer is metal welded to the trailing link hangar bracket. Due to these changes a complete trailing link service
package must be installed any time an early component requires service.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a right and left trailing link assembly.
1.
Raise vehicle on a suitable hoist.
2.
Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.
3.
Remove nut, bushing retainer and outer trailing link bushing from the trailing link.
4.
Remove the 4 bolts attaching the trailing link hangar bracket to the floor pan and frame rail.
5.
Remove the trailing link and hangar bracket as an assembly from the vehicle.
6.
Install the new trailing link and hangar bracket assembly on the vehicle and loosely tighten the 4 attaching bolts. Then install 2 drift pins of
appropriate size in positioning holes on the hangar bracket and into locating holes in body. With hangar bracket correctly positioned on vehicle
torque the 4 hangar bracket mounting bolts to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
7.
Install the outer lateral link bushing, outer bushing retainer and retaining nut on the trailing link. Using a large adjustable wrench on the flat of
trailing link to keep it from rotating torque the trailing link retaining nut to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).
8.
Repeat procedure on other side of vehicle.
9.
Install wheel and tire assemblies and lower vehicle.
POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
