NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 41TE TRANSAXLE BUILT BETWEEN NOV. 1, 1994 AND NOV. 17, 1994
(TRANSMISSION IDENTIFICATION NO. XXX-2149-XXXX THRU XXX-2165-XXXX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A clicking noise coming from the left front of the vehicle that varies in frequency with vehicle speed can be heard. The clicking noise may be caused by
output gear bolt and stirrup contacting the rear cover of the transaxle.
DIAGNOSIS:
1.
Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
2.
Remove the left front wheel.
3.
Remove left splash shield.
4.
Remove the 10 transaxle rear cover bolts and separate the cover from the transaxle.
5.
Inspect for signs of contact between the transaxle rear cover and output gear bolt and stirrup. If signs of contact are present, perform the repair
procedure. If no signs of contact are found, perform step 3, 8, 9 and 10 of the repair procedure. Further diagnosis is required.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the transaxle rear cover, transaxle oil filter, transmission fluid and any damaged transaxle output gear retention
components.
1.
Inspect the transaxle output gear retention components for damage and replace as necessary. If the retaining strap bolts are removed, they must be
replaced with new parts even if visible damage is not present. Use the installation procedure below if any transaxle output gear retention
components must be replaced.
A)
Install the output gear retaining bolt and torque to 200 ft. lbs. (271 Nm).
