Poor AM Radio Reception
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the electronic back light (EBL) module.
MODELS:
1998 - 1999 (LH) Concorde/LHS/300M
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Poor AM radio reception from usually clear/strong 780-820 KHz stations. This condition will only occur in larger cities (i.e. downtown Chicago) where
two very strong FM stations are broadcasting very close to each other and are 800 KHz apart.
DIAGNOSIS:
Tune radio to a known clear/strong AM station between 780-820 kHz frequency. Also note, if there are two local strong FM stations that are 800 KHz
(.8 MHz) apart (i.e. 97.1 FM and 97.9 FM). If the AM reception is full of static or severely degraded, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR
OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.
1.
Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable remote terminal.
2.
Remove the right upper quarter trim panel.
3.
Remove attaching screws from module.
4.
Disconnect wire connectors and radio coaxial cable.
5.
Remove module from vehicle.
6.
Install new module by reversing the above procedures.
