THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.5L ENGINE

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Intermittent no start, poor engine performance, or a no start accompanied by a loud engine noise on start-up attempt.

DIAGNOSIS:

Inspect the engine camshaft and crankshaft sprockets for proper engine timing. Remove the front timing covers following the procedure outlined in the
1993 Concord/Intrepid/Vision Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-3140) page 9-41. Check to determine if the timing marks on the camshaft
sprockets are aligned properly.

Timing belts that have skipped usually cause the left camshaft sprocket to be 2-3 teeth out of time. If it is difficult to determine positively that a sprocket
is out of time, place the camshaft alignment Special Tools 6642-A to the rear of the cylinder heads and align the crankshaft sprocket with TDC mark on
the oil pump housing. If the plates do not align properly, the camshaft(s) is out of time.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves installing the snubber over the timing belt tensioner plunger.

Service Manual Publication No. 81-270-3140, pages 9-41 through 9-45.

Remove the timing belt covers following the procedure outlined in the service manual.

Remove the timing belt tensioner following the procedure outlined in the service manual.
