Rollover Valve: Service and Repair

Pressure Relief/Rollover Valve Removal

CAUTION:  The fuel system remains pressurized after engine has been shut off. Release system pressure prior to opening system. 

WARNING:  Gasoline is extremely volatile, when servicing fuel systems always wear eye protection, keep open flame away from fuel system
components, and prohibit smoking in service areas.

NOTE:  Wrap shop towels around fuel hoses to absorb any fuel that spills during fuel tank replacement.

REMOVAL

1. The fuel tank must be removed to replace the pressure relief/rollover valve.
2. Remove the rollover valve by prying upward on one side of the valve with a screwdriver, and then roll the grommet out of the fuel tank.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the grommet onto the rollover valve. Lightly lubricate the outer portion of the grommet with clean motor oil.
2. Start one side of the rollover valve/grommet assembly into the opening in the fuel tank. Using fingers only, press the valve/grommet into place.
3. Reinstall the fuel tank.
