Recall - Brake Master Cylinder Malfunction
July 2000
Safety Recall No. 885
Brake Master Cylinder
Reference: June 26, 2000 electronic mail (DMAIL) message.
Models
2000
(LH)
Chrysler Concorde and Dodge Intrepid
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles built on June 20, 2000 (MDH 062004 through 062011).
IMPORTANT:
Many of the vehicles within the above build period have already been repaired and, therefore, have been excluded from this recall.
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Federal law requires you to stop sale and complete this recall service on these
vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also consider this requirement to apply to used vehicle inventory and should perform this recall on
vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.
Subject
The brake master cylinder on 160 of the above vehicles may cause the brakes to drag while driving and overheat. This could cause increased stopping
distance due to brake fade and may cause an accident without warning.
Repair
The brake master cylinder must be replaced.
Parts Information
Due to the small number of involved vehicles, no parts will be distributed initially. Dealers should order as needed to support scheduled repairs.
Completion Reporting and Reimbursement
Claims for vehicles that have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record recall
service completions and provide dealer payments.
Use the labor operation number and time allowance as shown.
Add the cost of the brake master cylinder and brake fluid plus applicable dealer allowance to your claim.
NOTE:
See the Warranty Administration Manual, Recall Claim Processing Section, for complete recall claim processing instructions.
Parts Return
Not required.
