Door Switch: Description and Operation
DOOR AJAR SWITCH
There are three door ajar switches, one at each door and one in the liftgate latch. The door switches are located in the B-pillar directly below the latch
striker plate, and the liftgate switch is integral to the liftgate latch assembly. A door or body harness connector with a service loop connects each switch
to the vehicle electrical system. The door ajar switches cannot be adjusted or repaired, and if faulty or damaged, the switch itself or the liftgate latch must
be replaced as an assembly. For complete door ajar switch removal procedures, see the appropriate removal procedure.
The door ajar switches are actuated by either the door closing against the jamb, or the liftgate latch mechanism striker plate. When a door or the liftgate
is closed and properly latched, its ajar switch is an open circuit. When a door or the liftgate is only partially latched, its ajar switch is a closed circuit.
The ajar switches are connected via a harness connector to a body ground and the central locking pump/security system module.
