Side Curtain Airbag

REMOVAL

1. Before attempting any service procedure refer to the warnings at the beginning of this section.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further service.
3. Remove the ignition key.
4. Remove the door trim panel.
5. Disconnect the squib connector (2).
6. Drill out the mounting rivets (1) for the side impact airbag.
7. Remove the side impact airbag from the door.

INSTALLATION

WARNING:  DISABLE THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING
COLUMN, DRIVER AIRBAG, PASSENGER AIR-BAG, FRONT IMPACT SENSOR, SIDE IMPACT SENSOR, SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG,
OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE
(GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING
FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM.
FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE
PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Position the side impact airbag to the door.
2. Install new mounting rivets (1) for the side impact airbag.
3. Connect the squib connector (2).
4. Install the door trim panel.
