8. Inspect end plate and end plate retaining ring. Replace if damaged or distorted in any way.

ASSEMBLY
CAUTION: Ensure all parts are clean and lubricated with clean power steering fluid. Dirt will cause noise, leaks, and accelerated wear.
1. Install pressure plate and end plate O-rings in housing, then install thrust plate dowels in housing.
2. Install thrust plate and rotor on pump shaft. Be sure rotor is installed with counterbore facing thrust plate, then secure rotor to shaft with retaining
ring.
3. Align thrust plate to dowels and install shaft, rotor, and plate in pump.
4. Align pump ring to dowels and install over rotor. Ensure directional arrows are facing up.
5. Install rotor vanes with rounded edges facing outward.
6. Install pressure plate with spring groove facing upward, then install spring in groove.
7. Install end plate then end plate retaining ring as follows:
a. Position sockets on pump shaft and end plate, then position pump and sockets in a vise.
b. Tighten the vise slightly to compress spring under end plate, then install end plate retaining ring.
c. Remove pump and sockets from vise.
8. Install flow control valve and spring with hex nut side of valve toward bore.
9. Install O-ring and fitting in the flow control valve bore and torque to specifications, then position pulley on pump.
10. Install pump and fill reservoir to specified level.
