Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation

1984-87

The purge solenoid is energized by the logic module when engine temperature is below 145 °F. This prevents vacuum from reaching the charcoal
canister valve. When engine temperature exceeds 145 °F, the solenoid is de-energized and vacuum will flow to the canister purge valve and purge
vapors through the throttle body.
