Reconnect 6-way connector.

Turn off all lights and accessories.

Apply parking brakes.

Place transmission in neutral.

Start engine and allow to warm to operating temperature (one minute minimum).

Connect one end of a jumper wire to the brown with white tracer wire (previously pulled from 6-way connector in Step 3) and touch the other end
of the jumper wire to the positive battery post for five seconds.

Remove jumper wire.
11.
Disconnect the radiator fan motor.
12.
Disconnect engine coolant sensor connector. The power loss lamp on the instrument panel must come on.

Disconnect charge temperature sensor connector.
NOTE:
ENGINE MAY STALL WHEN COOLANT AND/OR CHARGE SENSORS ARE DISCONNECTED. IF SO, PROCEED TO STEP

Turn ignition off.

Restart engine and hold engine speed at 2000 RPM's for 30 seconds. (It may be necessary to use wide open throttle after two seconds of cranking
to start engine.)
NOTE:
IF ENGINE STALLS AND IS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN AN IDLE UPON RESTARTING, TURN THE IDLE AIR BYPASS
SCREW ONE TURN COUNTERCLOCKWISE. REPEAT STEP 15.

Idle speed between 700 and 900 RPM is acceptable. If idle speed meets this specification, go to Step 18. Otherwise, proceed to next step.

To set RPM, turn idle speed adjusting screw (idle air bypass screw) until engine speed is 800 RPM (Figure 2). If speed will not adjust.
a.
Inspect all linkage for binding. Repair as required.
b.
If equipped with speed control, make sure servo cable is not holding throttle open. If so, adjust as required.
c.
Remove all cables from throttle body and make sure throttle shaft is not binding. If it is, replace throttle body.
NOTE:
ON VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 300 MILES, REDUCE SPEED BY 75 RPM.
