SYMPTOM/CONDITION
When replacing or servicing the gear select indicator, a new shift cable adjuster clip must be installed. The purpose of the clip is to prevent the cable
slider from moving after adjustment.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1.
With the console loose, (See Service Manual 81-270- 0102, page 8E-50), and the shifter in Neutral or Park position, attach the adjuster to the tab
on the gear shift bracket and the cable to the post on the gear shift as shown in Figure 1.
2.
Pull the gear shift handle to the "low/1" position.
3.
Check the "PRNDL" selector to insure the red indicator is aligned at the correct gear position.
