SYMPTOM/CONDITION
A condition of no manual low gear (drive - 1) may exist on the subject automatic transmission column shift vehicles.
DIAGNOSIS
Start engine and place gear selector in lowest gear (drive - 1). Accelerate in normal manner to approximately 45 mph. If no 1-2 upshift occurs the car is
in low gear and no problem exists. If a 1-2 upshift occurs, refer to the repair procedure below.
REPAIR PROCEDURE

STANDARD AND TILT COLUMNS
1.
Loosen cable housing at transmission mounting bracket (Figure 1).
2.
Grasp cable housing near the clamping location and push cable rearward 2-4 millimeters.
3.
While holding cable housing in the above position, retorque clamp.
4.
Repeat check for low gear.
