Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal & Installation

REMOVAL

1.

Rotate engine until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on compression stroke.

2.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

3.

Remove distributor cap and mark relationship of rotor to distributor housing.

4.

Remove distributor wiring harness.

5.

Disconnect vacuum hose from distributor.

6.

Remove distributor retaining nut, then the distributor.

INSTALLATION

1.

Align mating mark on distributor housing with rotor.

2.

Install distributor into engine aligning mating mark on distributor mounting flange with center of distributor retaining stud, Fig. 3. Also ensure
rotor aligns with reference marks on distributor housing made during removal.

3.

Install retaining nut, vacuum hose, secondary ignition cables and distributor wiring harness.

4.

Connect battery ground cable, start engine and adjust ignition timing.
