Hydraulic System Junction Block: Service and Repair

REMOVE 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery connection at the right front strut tower.
2. Install a brake pedal depressor, Snap-On tool B240A, or equivalent, to hold the brake pedal down, closing off the master cylinder passage ways

and eliminating excessive fluid loss.

3. Raise the vehicle on jack stands or centered on a hoist.
4. Remove fasteners holding the forward half of the left inner fender shield in place. Move the forward half of the inner fender shield back out of the

way.

5. Clean any debris away from the fittings on top of the junction block.
6. Remove the 4 chassis brake tubes mounted across the front top of the junction block.
7. Remove the 2 remaining brake tubes, from the primary and secondary master cylinder ports, from the top of the junction block.
8. Remove the 3 bolts attaching the junction block to the mounting bracket.
9. Remove the junction block from the vehicle.

INSTALL 

1. Install the junction block to the mounting bracket using the 3 attaching bolts. Tighten bolts to 26 Nm (230 inch lbs.).
2. Install the 2 brake tubes, from the primary and secondary master cylinder ports, to the top rear corners of the junction block. Tighten the tube

fittings to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.).

3. Install the 4 chassis brake tubes to the junction block. Tighten the tube fittings to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.).
4. Reinstall the inner fender shield.
5. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
6. Remove the brake pedal depressor.
7. Bleed the Brake system.
