This bulletin supersedes # 06-01-86, which should be removed from your files. This revision includes new art work to clarify the bent drive strap
condition.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Clutch will not release, excessive spin time, or gear clash during reverse engagement.
DIAGNOSIS
Check the clutch for a five second or longer spin time with the engine warm and at curb idle.
To check the spin time, set the parking brake and depress the clutch fully to the floor. Then wait five seconds and shift into reverse, checking for gear
clash. If clash is noted, the cause may be a damaged drive strap in the clutch pressure plate.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
The repair consists of replacing the clutch pressure plate assembly.
1.
Remove the transaxle from the vehicle. (Refer to the appropriate service manual for specific removal procedure.)
2.
Remove the clutch disc and pressure plate.
