Parking Brake Cable: Adjustments
Clean threads of parking brake cable with a wire brush and lubricate prior to loosening adjusting nut.
1.
Release parking brake lever, then back off parking brake cable adjusting nut so there is slack in cable.
2.
Pump brake pedal several times, then tighten adjusting nut until a slight drag is felt while rotating each rear wheel.
3.
On 1989 models, loosen adjusting nut 5 turns, then actuate parking brake lever on rear calipers by manually pulling down and releasing each rear
cable. Parking brake lever should return against stop pin on both calipers.
4.
If parking brake lever is not touching stop pins, loosen adjusting nut 1 turn.
5.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until parking brake returns against stop pin on both calipers.
6.
On 1990-91 models, loosen adjusting nut until both rear wheels can be rotated freely, then back off adjusting nut 2 turns.
7.
On all models, apply and release parking brake several times and ensure that rear wheels rotate freely without dragging and that actuating levers
on both calipers return against stop pins in Off position.
