Flash: Shift Quality Improvements for Upshift/Downshift
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to 2006 - 2008 models equipped with a 2.4L Naturally Aspirated (Sales Code EDZ) and 2008 Model 2.4L Turbo engine (Sales
Code EDT) and 41TE automatic transmission (Sale code DFF) built prior to February 5, 2008 (MDH0205XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
1.
4 - 3 Coastdown downshift bump, may feel like 2 - 1 to customer. ALL Model Years, NA Engines only.
2.
1-2 Upshift harshness. 2007 & 2008 Model Years only.
3.
2 - 1 Downshift harshness. 2007 & 2008 Model Years only.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine/transmission systems are
functioning as designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Conditions and they can be verified, perform the Repair Procedure.
