Air Door Cable: Service and Repair
Mode Door Cable - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or

service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to
discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the
proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: LHD model shown in illustrations. RHD model similar.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Disengage the center bezel from the instrument panel to gain access to the back of the A/C-heater control See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding

/ Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Instrument Panel Bezel - Removal.

3. Disconnect the mode control cable from the A/C-heater control See: Control Assembly/Service and Repair/A/C and Heater Control - Removal.
4. Remove the passenger side instrument panel silencer See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and

Repair/Silencer Panel - Removal.

5. Remove the glove box See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Glove Compartment/Service and Repair/Instrument Panel Glove Box -

Removal.

6. Disengage the two retainers (3) that secure the instrument panel wire harness (2) to the instrument panel support (1) and position the wire harness

out of the way.

NOTE: Illustration shown with instrument panel removed for clarity.

7. Remove the screw (3) that secures the mode door linkage cover (4) and the right floor distribution duct (2) to the right side of the HVAC air

distribution housing (1).

8. Disengage the mode door linkage cover from the slot at the top of the air distribution housing and remove the cover.
