PT Cruiser L4-2.4L Turbo (2009)
1. Open hood, disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag system or component service.
Failure to do so may result in accidental airbag deployment, serious or fatal injury.
2. Tilt steering column to the full upwards position.
3. Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry out on the upper corners of the under column cover on each side of the steering column.
4. Push down and pull out slightly on the under steering column cover so the loop tabs (1) may be undone. As you pull out slightly, you must reach
down through the column opening and push down on the bottom of the loop (1) to release it from the tab on the reinforcement (2).
5. Remove one screw to the left instrument panel end cap, unsnap the end cap and disconnect the power mirror (if equipped) electrical connector.
6. Remove the two upper screws to the knee blocker airbag trim cover (3). One on either side of the column.
7. Reaching in through the instrument panel access hole to the left of the knee blocker airbag, undo the trim cover (1) hook and loop retainers (2)
from the top side of the knee blocker airbag.
8. Loosen the two torx bolts (3) holding the knee blocker airbag to the instrument panel.
NOTE: The knee blocker airbag trim cover will come off the lower hooks at this time.
