Clutch Pedal Position Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection
CLUTCH INTERLOCK/UPSTOP SWITCH
LHD and DIESEL LHD AND RHD
NOTE: 2.4L-equipped models (including Turbo) do not use the clutch pedal upstop switch/feature. These vehicles will only utilize the starter
inhibit (interlock) feature.
The clutch interlock/upstop switch (1) is an assembly consisting of two switches: an engine starter inhibit switch (interlock) (2) and a clutch pedal upstop
switch (1). The switch assembly is located in the clutch/brake pedal bracket assembly, each switch being fastened by four plastic wing tabs. The
connector (3) is secured to the pedal/bracket assembly by a plastic retainer.
RHD-2.4L
The RHD clutch interlock/upstop switch (1) consists of a single, multi-function switch that is activated by the hydraulic clutch master cylinder push rod.
