Hood Hinge: Service and Repair

HINGE

REMOVAL

1. Open and support hood on the side that requires service.
2. Remove the cowl grille screen. Refer to Cowl Moulding/Trim.
3. Mark all hinge attachment locations with a grease pencil or other suitable device to provide reference marks for reinstallation.
4. Remove the nuts that secure the hinge (2) to the hood (1) and fender (3) and remove the hinge.

INSTALLATION

1. If installing a new hinge (2), paint the hinge prior to installation.
2. Position the hinge onto the hood (1) and fender (3) and align the hinge to the previously marked locations.
3. Install the nuts that secure the hinge to the hood and fender. Tighten the nuts to 33 N.m (24 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the cowl grille screen.
5. Remove the support and verify hood alignment and operation. The hood should fit flush across the top surfaces along fenders and have even gaps

aligned to 4 mm (0.160 in.) to the adjacent body panels.
