Trunk / Liftgate Latch: Removal and Replacement
LATCH
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Open the liftgate.
3. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel.
4. Disengage the retainer clips that secure the two linkage rods (2) to the liftgate latch (3) and disconnect the links.
5. Disconnect the liftgate wire harness connector (4) from the latch.
6. Remove the two bolts that secure the latch to lift-gate (1) and remove the latch.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the liftgate latch (3) onto the liftgate (1) and install the two retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.).
2. Connect the linkage rods (2) to the latch and install the retainer clips. Make sure the retainer clips are fully engaged
3. Connect the liftgate wire harness connector (4) to the latch.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
5. Verify liftgate lock cylinder and latch operation.
6. Install the liftgate trim panel.
