REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removing the loose cladding or air dam and re-mounting it with new clips and double coated tape.
1.
Carefully remove the loose side door cladding or air dam. Thoroughly remove the two-sided tape from the part and/or body. Clean all glue residue
from the part and body. Wipe the body panel and trim component with isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt, wax, or other contaminants. Note: If the
clip holders tear from the cladding, the cladding must be replaced.
2.
Replace the clips along the top edge of the door cladding or air dam with the modified clips P/N 6030441. Three are used on the air dam and five
on the door cladding.
3.
Check the remaining clips for damage. Replace as necessary.
4.
Apply 3M Urethane Primer P/N 08608 to the tape sill on the cladding or air dam. Allow the primer to dry. Use care not to get the primer on the
exposed side of the cladding.
5.
Apply 3M Scotch Mount Double Coated Tape P/N 06385 to the tape sill on the cladding or air dam. It will be necessary to apply two layers, one
on top of the other to provide proper body contact. Apply the first layer to the cladding, peel the tape liner off and apply a second layer over the
first.
6.
Peel off the tape liner and attach the parts to the body as follows:
Note:
For best tape adhesion, part and body temperature should be between 77° - 104° F.
