Tie Rod End: Service and Repair

NOTE:  If a dust cover is cracked or damaged, replace the tie rod end.

CAUTION:  Only use this procedure if dust cover was damaged by mistake during servicing, replace it as follows. 

BALL JOINT DUST COVER REPLACEMENT 

1. Remove the dust cover from the tie rod end.

2. Pack dust cover interior with multipurpose grease.
3. Apply 3M ATD Part No. 8663 or equivalent to dust cover lip.
4. Using the special tool, install the dust cover to the tie rod end ball joint.
