Fuel Door Bumper Falls Out Of Fuel Door Housing

MODELS: 
1996 - 1998 (JX) Sebring Convertible

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Rattle from fuel filler area, created when fuel door bumper falls out due to lack of retention.

DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the fuel door housing for the bumper. If the bumper is loose or missing, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves installing a new fuel door bumper with an improved adhesive.

1.

Clean the fuel door housing with isopropyl alcohol to ensure complete bonding.

2.

Apply sparingly, a drop of Mopar Bond-All Gel to the bottom (mating) surface of the bumper.

3.

Immediately install the bumper into the recessed pocket of the fuel door housing. The cone-shaped retaining feature should pop through the hole in
the housing. Ensure that the mating surfaces are flat. If the surfaces are not flat, reposition the bumper in the housing until they are properly mated.

4.

Hold the bumper in the seated position for approximately 10 seconds.
