SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The trunk lid appears uneven when open, this is due to one or more of the gas support rod attaching point fingers missing from the assembly.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect both gas support rods at each attaching point, if the support rod is detached or the support rod fingers are broken or missing, perform the Repair

Repair Procedure
This bulletin involves the replacement of the left and right trunk lid hinges and both gas support rods.
1.
Paint new hinges to match body color and allow to dry.
2.
Release trunk latch and open trunk lid.
3.
Mark outline of trunk hinge on the trunk lid and quarter panel trough to aid in installation.
4.
Place a padded block between the deck panel, quarter panel and the trunk lid to prevent damage to the paint finish.
5.
Support the trunk lid with a wooden dowel or similar rod.
6.
Unlock the safety feature of the gas support cylinder by pulling out the caps at each end of the gas support cylinder.
