Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the lower ball joint stud at the steering knuckle (Figure 14).

Turn the steering knuckle so that the front of the steering knuckle is facing as far outboard as possible.

Using a hammer, strike the steering knuckle boss until the steering knuckle separates from the lower ball joint stud (Figure 15).
CAUTION:
Use care to not hit the ball joint grease seal, the lower control arm or the axle shaft.

Remove the stub axle to hub/bearing retaining nut and pull the steering knuckle assembly out and away from the outer C/V joint of the driveshaft
assembly (Figure 16).
