Erroneous MIL Illumination/Cold Engine Sag/Rough Idle

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO FEB. 13, 1996 (MDH 02-13-XX) EQUIPPED WITH A 2.4L OR 2.5L ENGINE.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Symptom 1:
Erroneous MIL Illumination and On Board Diagnostics II (OBD II) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) Hex Code 1B and/or Hex Code 84 (TPS Voltage
High and/or TPS Voltage Does Not Agree With Map) exist without loss of vehicle performance. This symptom applies to all engines.
Symptom 2:
Engine sag or hesitation following a cold engine start at ambients of 40°C to 60°F. This symptom applies only to JA/JX vehicles equipped with a 2.5L
engine.
Symptom 3:
Rough idle and/or idle undershoot immediately following a hot or cold start. This symptom applies to all engines.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using the Mopar Diagnostic System (MDS) or the DRB III Scan Tool and appropriate Diagnostic Procedure Manual, verify that all engine systems are
functioning as designed. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) other than those listed are present, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary
before proceeding further with this bulletin. If only DTC's Hex 1B and/or Hex 84 are present, or no DTC's are present and all systems are functioning
correctly, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
THE MOPAR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM IS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING REPAIR AND THE SYSTEM MUST BE
OPERATING WITH RELEASE 19 OR HIGHER AND TIL CD RELEASE 1104 OR HIGHER MUST BE INSTALLED.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves reprogramming (flashing) the PCM with new software (calibrations).

Connect the MDS (Mopar Diagnostic System) and DRB III (Scan Tool) to the vehicle and power them up.
