SUBJECT:
Seat Belt Appears Twisted
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves turning the latch plate 180 degrees on the webbing to correct the twist.
MODELS:
1996 - **2000**
(JX) Sebring Convertible
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Seat belt appears twisted.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the seat belt at the bottom of the webbing. The seat belt should have a 180 degree twist in this location. The 180 degree twist at the bottom of the
webbing is designed to allow the webbing to lie correctly over the occupant when buckled up (Figure 1).
Extract all of the seat belt webbing from the seat (spool it all the way out) to insure that there is no additional twist in the webbing behind the bezel.
Allow the webbing to feed back into the seat.
Buckle the seat belt as though a person is sitting in the seat, if the seat belt is now straight (not twisted), the seat belt is correct (Figure 1).
If a twist is found with the seat belt in the buckled position perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR
OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.
NOTE:
DO NOT REMOVE THE SEAT SIDE SHIELD AND SEAT BELT NUT TO TURN THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR PLATE AROUND. THE
