Power Steering Bleeding: Service and Repair

To avoid personal injury, power steering fluid level should be inspected with engine Off. Use only authorized fluid. Do not use automatic transmission
fluid. Do not overfill fluid system.

1. Wipe filler cap clean, then inspect fluid level. Dipstick should indicate "Full Cold" when the fluid is at normal temperature approximately 70-80°F

2. Fill power steering pump fluid reservoir to proper level.
3. Start and run engine for a few seconds, then turn engine Off.
4. Add fluid as required. Repeat previous procedure until fluid level remains constant after running engine.
5. Raise front wheels off of the ground, then start engine.
6. Slowly turn steering wheel right and then left, lightly contacting the wheel stops. Turn engine Off.
7. Add fluid as required.
8. Lower vehicle, start engine, then turn steering wheel slowly from lock to lock.
9. Stop engine, then inspect fluid and refill as required.

10. If fluid is extremely foamy, wait a few minutes, then repeat entire bleeding procedure.
