Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Power Steering Pump Flow Control Valve Seal Replacement

The power steering pump does not require removal from the engine for flow control valve O-ring replacement.

1. Remove power steering fluid pressure hose from power steering pump pressure fitting.

2. Remove pump discharge/flow control valve fitting from power steering pump housing. Prevent flow control valve and spring from sliding out of

housing bore.

3. Remove and discard O-ring.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Clean and install flow control valve and spring in pump housing bore if required.
b. Install new O-ring seal on fitting.
c. Install pump discharge/flow control valve fitting in pump and tighten to specifications.
d. Install power steering pressure hose on flow control valve fitting, then tighten tube nut to specifications.
e. Refill fluid and bleed system of air. Refer to "Power Steering System Bleed" for air bleeding procedure.
