Flash: MIL Illumination Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 - Cold Start Misfire
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to models equipped with a 3.0L engine sales code EF7 and Automatic Transmission sales code DG1/DGB or with Optional
Autostick Transmission sales code DHD.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience MIL illumination when starting the vehicle from a cold start. The vehicle will operate normally and no indication of
a problem (other than MIL illumination) will be noticed. This condition is intermittent and difficult to duplicate. Further diagnosis may determine that
DTC's P0300 through P0306 may have been set.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (DRBIII(R)) with PCMCIA card pn CH8425 and the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures, verify all engine systems are functioning as
designed. If DTCs are present, other than the one listed above, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with
this bulletin.
NOTE:
Make sure the DRBIII(R) is operating with PCMCIA card pn CH8425. The card must be updated to version 5.1 to communicate with all model years
of ST22.
If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition and no other problems are found, perform the Repair Procedure.
NOTE:
For 2001 models, a running change was made to a higher heat range (10) spark plug. Reference Service Bulletin 18-022-02 dated July 29, 2002 for
further information about this change.
