2007 - 2008 (JS) Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine ("K" in the 8th VIN Position) built through July 27, 2007 (MDH 072705).
IMPORTANT:
Some of the vehicles within the above build period have already been repaired and, therefore, have been excluded from this recall.
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Federal law requires you to complete this recall service on these vehicles
before retail delivery. Dealers should also consider this requirement to apply to used vehicle inventory and should perform this recall on vehicles in
for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.
Subject
Engine coolant may be drawn into the left radiator cooling fan motor connector on about 101,900 of the above vehicles. This can cause an electrical
short circuit and result in an engine compartment fire.
Repair
A left side radiator cooling fan motor wire overlay harness must be installed on all vehicles. The left radiator cooling fan motor connector must also be
inspected for damage. Vehicles found with a damaged radiator cooling fan motor connector must also have the fan motor replaced.
Alternate Transportation
Dealers should attempt to minimize customer inconvenience by placing the owner in a loaner vehicle if inspection determines that radiator fan motor
replacement is required and the vehicle must be held overnight.
