Flash: Driveability Improvements
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to models built before March 5, 2007 (MDH 0305XX) equipped with a 2.0L or 2.4L engine (Sales Codes ECN or ED3).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience the following:
1.
A ticking sound heard at idle inside the vehicle. This sound may be described as an engine sound.
a.
The sound may be caused by the Purge Solenoid and can be verified by temporarily unplugging the solenoid to see if the sound is
eliminated.
2.
RPM oscillation during steady state driving between 48K and 80K (30 and 50 MPH).
3.
Perceived lack of deceleration when the coast button is pressed while in cruise control.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as
designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the above conditions are described or confirmed, perform the Repair Procedure.
