SUBJECT:
Flash: Powertrain Growl Sound, Coordinated Change
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the GPEC Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software, replacing the right
engine mount, and making modifications to the air induction system based on clean points listed below.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to models equipped with a 2.4L gasoline engine (Sales Code ED3) as follows: Engine Mount replacement applies to models
built prior to June 7, 2007 (MDHO6O7XX), Flash portion applies to models built prior to June 16, 2007 (MDH 0616XX), and Air Induction System
modification applies to models built prior to August 4, 2007 (MDH0804XX). See Labor Operation Breakdown for proper combination of repairs to
clean point.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience a growl sound between 2000 and 3000 RPM. This sound may be more noticeable in cooler ambient temperatures.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN®) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as
designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the symptom/condition is described by the customer or verified, perform the Repair Procedure based on each of the clean points listed above.
