Seat Back Cover - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat

air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to
discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow
these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: Left seat shown in illustrations. Right seat similar.

1. Remove the seat from the vehicle and place it on a workbench See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Seats, First Row/Seat -

Removal.

2. Remove the seat back from the seat See: Seat Back/Service and Repair/Seat Back - Removal.
3. Remove the seat back panel See: Seat Back/Service and Repair/Seat Back Panel - Removal.
4. Remove the armrest See: Interior Moulding / Trim/Arm Rest/Service and Repair/Armrest - Removal.
5. Remove the headrest See: Head Rest/Service and Repair/Headrest - Removal.
6. Remove the headrest sleeves See: Head Rest/Service and Repair/Headrest Sleeve - Removal.
7. Disengage the five J-hook retainers (1) that secure the top and sides of the seat back cover (2) to the seat back frame (5).
8. Disengage the seat back cover from the two metal tabs (4) located near the bottom of the seat back frame.
9. Remove the seat back cover and the seat back cushion (3) from the seat back frame as an assembly.

10. Using a hooked tool (4), disengage the retaining strips (1) from the clips (3) that secure the seat back cushion cover (2) to the seat back cushion (5)

and remove the cover.
