Outside Temperature Display Inaccurate/MIL ON/DTC P0071

SUBJECT:
Outside Temperature Displayed is Inaccurate or MIL DTC P0071

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor connector for corrosion, replace connector and/or AAT sensor if necessary
and reroute wire to sensor. Wire routing to sensor may pull on connection at the AAT sensor and cause seal to unseat allowing moisture in.

NOTE

This bulletin applies to vehicles built before February 15, 2008 (MDH 0215XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience intermittent MIL illumination and/or the outside temperature displayed is not correct. Further investigation by
technician may find DTC P0071 - Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Performance.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

2.

Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

NOTE:

The ambient air temperature (AAT) sensor is mounted to the lower radiator support behind front fascia.

3.

Disconnect the wire harness connector from the ambient temperature sensor.

4.

Inspect the sensor connector for corrosion. Does the sensor connector show any signs of corrosion?

a.

Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 5.
