A/C Suction Hose/Line Replacement

Rear

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Connect the A/C refrigerant recovery station and recover the A/C system refrigerant.

WARNING: THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM MUST BE COMPLETELY EMPTY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS
OPERATION.

NOTE:  Special effort must be used to keep all R-134a system components moisture-free. Moisture in the oil is very difficult to remove and will
cause a reliability problem with the compressor. Cap all open refrigerant lines and components.

3. Remove the wiper module from the vehicle to gain access to the A/C plumbing.

NOTE:  Take care when removing the top cover of the wiper module as not to scratch the surface with the lower hood corners.

4. Remove the accessory drive belt.
5. Remove upper generator bracket.
6. Disconnect the wiring and remove the generator.
7. Remove ground wire at dash panel.
8. Remove suction line mounting bracket at the shock tower.
9. Remove the nut retaining the refrigerant line sealing plate to the expansion valve.

10. Remove the stud from the expansion valve.
11. Remove suction line from expansion valve.
12. Remove suction line mounting nut at compressor.
13. Raise the vehicle and disconnect the A/C line at the compression fitting.
14. Remove any tie straps holding the suction line to any other underbody lines.
15. Unseat the A/C line from the lower cowl plastic line mounting bracket, and remove the line from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Lower the vehicle, and position the new A/C suction line (running down to the underbody) between the liquid A/C line and the cowl panel.

NOTE:  Ensure old O-rings are discarded and correct replacements used for proper A/C system sealing.

2. Route A/C line over shock tower and install suction line mounting nut at compressor.
3. Raise the vehicle, route and seat the suction line in the plastic mounting bracket.
4. Reconnect the underbody compression line fitting, and tie wrap the A/C lines.
5. Lower the vehicle, seat the suction line in the expansion valve.
6. Install the stud to the evaporator sealing plate and tighten 7 to 11 Nm (64 to 96 in. lbs.) torque.
7. Install the nut on the evaporator sealing plate stud and tighten 7 to 11 Nm (64 to 96 in. lbs.) torque.
8. Connect the A/C refrigerant recovery station and start system evacuation.
9. Install the generator and tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque, reconnect the generator wiring.

10. Install the upper generator bracket and tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque.
11. Install the accessory drive belt.
12. Install the wiper module on the vehicle.

NOTE:  Take care when installing top cover of module as not to scratch the surface with the lower hood corners.

13. Connect the battery negative cable,
14. Charge the A/C refrigerant system per the underhood label specification.

Suction Line Replacement

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Recover A/C system refrigerant.
3. Remove the accessory drive belt.
4. Remove upper generator bracket.
5. Remove ground wire at dash panel.
