Audible Warning Device: Description and Operation
CHIME/BUZZER WARNING SYSTEM
The chime system provides the driver with two types of chimes: warning and announcement.
The chime system provides the driver with warning chimes for:

Seat Belt
-
Exterior Lamps ON
-
Key-In Ignition
-
Engine Temperature Critical
-
Turn Signals ON (greater than one mile above 15 mph)
-
Dome Lamp ON
-
Low Oil Pressure
-
High Speed Warning
-
Warning Lamp Announcement
The warning chime will sound continuously until the condition is removed or the battery protection stops the chime (3 or 4 minutes). The driver
seat belt unfastened chime will sound for approximately six seconds or until the seat belt is fastened.
The announcement chime will sound one time whenever the generator lamp, low fuel, low washer fluid, door ajar, airbag, or liftgate ajar lamps are
first illuminated. The door and liftgate ajar lamp announcement chime is only given if the vehicle speed is above 2 mph.

The Chime/Buzzer Warning System is diagnosed using a DRB III scan tool. Refer to the proper Body Diagnostic Procedures.
