Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Master Cylinder Replacement
1. With engine not running, pump brake pedal four or five times to deplete vacuum in power booster.
2. Thoroughly clean all surfaces of filler neck, brake fluid reservoir and area where master cylinder assembly attaches to booster using Mopar Brake
Parts Cleaner, or equivalent solvent.
3. Remove master cylinder filler tube from brake fluid reservoir by pushing down and rotating, then install cap from removed filler tube onto master
cylinder reservoir.
4. Remove vehicle wiring harness connector from brake fluid level sensor in master cylinder fluid reservoir.
5. Disconnect primary and secondary brake tubes from master cylinder housing. Install suitable sealing plugs in open outlets on master cylinder
assembly.
6. Remove master cylinder from vacuum booster.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install new vacuum seal when mounting master cylinder.
b. Torque master cylinder mounting nuts to 225 inch lbs.
