SUBJECT:
Improved Remote Keyless Entry Range
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the security alarm module and reprogramming all the key fobs.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to right hand drive vehicles equipped with a Premium Security Alarm (sales code LSC).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may describe that the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) fobs do not operate unless very close to the vehicle.
NOTE:
All of the customer's fobs are required for testing and repair.
DIAGNOSIS:
The technician should operate all of the customer's RKE fobs and determine the range of the RKE fobs. If the range of the any RKE fob is less than 3
meters (10 ft.), check the signal strength of the RKE fob using Miller special tool p/n 9001. If the signal strength is low, check and replace the battery if
necessary. If the technician determines the fob's range is less than 3 meters (10 ft.), and the RKE fobs pass testing, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2.
Remove instrument panel top pad. Refer to the appropriate (2003 or 2004) Year End Final Technical Publications - Car CD. Refer to 23 -
Body/Instrument Panel/Instrument Panel Top Pad - Removal.
3.
Remove screws holding the security alarm module to instrument panel.
