Heater Core: Service and Repair

Fig. 4 Heater Unit & Blower Motor Assembly

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.

2.

Remove instrument panel, refer to BODY ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND ENTERTAINMENT/INSTRUMENT PANEL/COMPONENT R
& R PROCEDURES/INSTRUMENT PANEL.

3.

Disconnect inside/outside air switching cable from blower assembly.

4.

Disconnect cooling hose from heater core.

5.

On models less air conditioning, remove air duct.

6.

On models with air conditioning, remove evaporator case.

7.

On all models, remove blower assembly attaching bolts, then blower assembly, Fig. 4.

8.

Remove heater case attaching bolts/nuts, then heater assembly, Fig. 4.

9.

Separate heater case halves, then remove heater core.

10.

Reverse procedure to install.
