Idle Speed Control VSV: Description and Operation
The control system controls the fuel amount, using the ECU, by detecting the engine and vehicle running conditions, based on signals inputted from
various sensors.
Fuel Pump Control
This system supplies the fuel pump with power for two seconds when the ignition is turned on, the ignition signal is inputted and/or when the starter
switch is turned on.
Idle Speed Control (ISC)
This system regulates air flow rate to the ISC VSV to match the target idle speed that has been memorized in the ECU.
EGR VSV Control
When the coolant temperature exceeds the specified level, this system controls the EGR by turning on the EGR VSV.
Spark Advance (SA) VSV Control
On 1990-92 1.3L/4-79 engines with manual transmissions, this system prevents surging by turning on the SA VSV, thereby suspending the timing
advance at the sub-side vacuum advancer.
Barometric VSV (PVSV) Control
This system switches the pressure being applied to the pressure sensor temporarily from the intake manifold inner pressure to the atmospheric pressure.
Fail-Safe Function
If any abnormal signals are inputted into the ECU that control can no longer be continued based on the inputted data, running is made possible by using
data stored in the ECU in advance. In the event that the ECU should fail, this system makes it possible for the vehicle to continue to run by using back-up
data.
